Jordan Mattos

mattos1.jpgIt seems we're on a t-shirt bender this month, but we can't help ourselves. This is the other end of the spectrum from Last Exit to Nowhere. Jordan Mattos designs beautiful, hand-drawn artworks inspired by classic films on plain white T-shirts.

The image above is one of Jordan's t-shirts inspired by John Casavette's "Husbands."  Jordan's shirts can be found in Hannah Clark as well as the inimitable den of downtown cool, Opening Ceremony.

Jordan started the T-Shirt line in 2003 after falling in love with Fassbinder's films at a Film Forum retrospective. Although he's done a Bambi shirt commission, and he admits as feely as we do that Bambi is truly inspiring, he focuses on films that inspire him artisically.

When not creating wearable art, Jordan acquires films for the breakout DVD distributor IndiePix.  Stay tuned for a new line of mass produced shirts that might fit the more modestly budgeted shoppers. For now the hand created shirts are limited edition and average $150.
